Semiya Payasam | Kerala Style

Semiya Payasam is a delicious item in the category of payasams (kheer)  in South India, especially in Kerala. 


Ingredients


Vermicelli – 100 gm
Milk – 300 ml
Fat – 30 gm
Sugar – 75 gm
Saffron – a pinch
Sultanas – 30 gm
Cashew Nuts – 30 gm
Cardamoms – A few

Method

  • Break the vermicelli into small pieces
  • Heat a little ghee in the pan
  • Fry the vermicelli a little.
  • In another bowl, boil one liter of milk
  • Put the vermicelli into the oven and bring it to a boil.
  • Boil for five minutes, then add enough sugar
  • Stir well and then take it out of the stove
  • Mix in a little cardamom powder
  • If there is no cardamom powder, crush the cardamom
  • Heat ghee in another pan and fry it with cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Add this mixture to the kheer and mix well.
  • Everything is ready, Serve warm.
