HOW TO MAKE UPPUMA (upma)?
HOW TO MAKE UPPUMA (upma)?
INGREDIENTS
Semonila - 225 gm
Fat- 30 gm
Onions- 55 gm
Green Chillies - 5 gm
Ginger - 5 gm
Coriander Leaves - a few springs
Peanuts or Cashew Nuts - 15 gm
Bengal Gram - 15 gm
Split Black Gram - 15 gm
Mustard Seeds - 3 gm
Curry Leaves - 2 sprigs
Lime - 1/2 one
Salt - To taste
Water - 1: 2.5
METHOD
1. Heat fat. Add mustard seeds, peanuts, split black gram, bengal gram and brown lightly.
2. Do not stir. Add chopped onions, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves. Saute.
3. Add semolina. Roast till light brown.
4. Add boiling water and salt. Allow to cook till dry.
5. Add lime juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
6. Serve with or without chutney.
